What Does A Public Adjuster Do?

I handle your property insurance claim so that you don’t have to. Our commitment is to get you the maximum settlement possible so you can quickly recover from your loss, but there is so much more involved than just money. The entire claims process can be confusing, burdensome and incredibly stressful but everyday life still goes on. Your business needs to keep running, your family still needs a roof over their heads and the bills still need to be paid.

We help to bear the burden and relieve the stress of the claims process so you can go on with living your life, running your business and caring for your family’s needs. We do this by representing your interests as we review your policy, notify your insurance company of the claim, prepare a complete claims package to present to your insurance company, and negotiate with the insurance company’s adjuster.

Why Does Someone Need a Public Adjuster?

Did you know that every policy holder has certain contractual rights and responsibilities after a loss occurs and not fulfilling your obligation as per policy provisions can negatively affect your settlement and even allow the insurance company to deny your claim?

Do you know all the contractual rights and responsibilities of your insurance policy?

Do you know what is covered in your policy? Do you understand what those limits and terms mean to you?

You wouldn’t think of going to court without your attorney…you insist on having your accountant right by your side at an IRS audit…in the same manner; you want a public adjuster for a professional preparation of your insurance claim.

When Do You Need a Public Adjuster?

Anytime you have a potential property insurance claim, call me. Whether you’ve had a kitchen fire, a heater malfunction or an overflow from a washing machine or hot water heater, I can help you. I can step in at any point in the claim process to assist you. Although I prefer to become involved before your insurance company is notified, I can help once that process has already started whether the claim has stalled or even once the claim has settled. If you are not happy with your settlement, feel you have been treated unfairly, I can help. If your claim has been denied I can take a second look at no obligation to you to make sure your claim for damages was properly presented to your insurance company. As a Public Adjuster my sole responsibility is to protect you and your rights as stated within the terms and limits of your insurance policy.

What is a Public Adjuster?

An authority on loss adjustments who you can retain to assist you in preparing, filing, and adjusting your insurance claims.

Most people who have a claim have no idea how to prepare and adjust it. They more or less rely on their “insurance adjuster” to do that for them because they think the insurance adjuster will take care of them. This is your insurance adjuster from your insurance company and he’s supposed to take care of you, right? Wrong! What you must understand is, it is the “insurance adjusters” job to make company inspired settlements with policyholders, most of whom lack the fundamental information and adjusting skills to be on a level playing field with the adjuster. A Public Adjuster can help you level the field.

Knowledge is leverage. The more you know, the more power you have, and insurance adjusters are well trained to cut corners and save their company money and, more and more, look for ways to avoid paying claims. You need someone as well trained in your corner looking out for your interests. The objective in adjusting should be to get as good a result as possible, as quickly as possible, as trouble free as possible. Most policyholders will continue their fate of dealing ineffectively due to the fact that they lack ability, information, and understanding. To adjust is to negotiate. An adjuster is a negotiator. Usually, only the person representing the insurance company is considered the adjuster, and the policyholder receives his/her adjustment, as previously stated, from a company inspired adjuster. In order to arrive at an adjusted settlement, each side has its own needs to satisfy. The less you know, the more likely you are to be forced to meet the needs of the insurance company. You must know your needs! * You must know your rights! A Public Adjuster can help you with both of these. If you don’t know what to expect and how to get it, you may become overwhelmed and give in too easily.

No one knows the outcome of an adjustment beforehand. Therefore, it is impossible to anticipate to what extent either party will give in to the needs of the other. Bargaining power becomes the main ingredient in adjusting. It usually comes about naturally as facts come to the surface. Adjusting is a matter of give and take, and unless you are dealing from a position of strength and knowledge like a Public Adjuster can offer, you may be forced to give too much.

Insurance adjusters facing a knowledgeable public adjuster usually enter on a more cooperative basis, and there is a strong likelihood that each will strive for common goals.

Usually a policyholder is having to deal with a claim at a time following a disaster. Psychologically, most people are not up to the task under these circumstances. It is very common to see people in a state of shock, confusion and helplessness. A professional public adjuster will be emotionally level and competent.

The time of a personal disaster is not the time to be thinking about all of this for the first time. Think about it now and take comfort in the knowledge that a Public Adjuster can be there to protect your interest if indeed the unthinkable happens to you.

Policies/Coverage

When was the last time you read and understood the insurance policy that covers your home or business?
Many people have difficulty understanding the technical language of the insurance policy and the complicated procedures they must follow to comply with the policy’s terms.

Most people do not realize that insurance company adjusters are trained professionals who represent the interests of the insurance company which employs them.

You can protect your interests by employing a public adjuster whose sole responsibility is to serve you, the insured.

Public adjusters are retained for the adjustment of insured claims due to fire, wind, water, vandalism, and other perils. The public adjuster serves commercial businesses, financial institutions, professional firms, homeowners, and the general insuring public.

If a loss occurs, you should give immediate consideration to engaging the services of a public adjuster.
